Two people were killed and another injured after a driver ran a red light to evade police and caused a multi-vehicle collision in South L.A. early Friday, police said.

The crash occurred about 4:15 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway Street and Manchester Avenue, Los Angeles police said.

Officers initially observed a car traveling westbound on Manchester Avenue at a high speed, police said. As they attempted to pull the car over, the driver continued speeding westbound on Manchester Avenue and failed to yield at a red light, police said.

The car then collided with at least three other vehicles, including that of the victims, an unidentified male and female, police said. The two were pronounced dead at the scene.

At least one suspect was taken into custody, police said. The unidentified suspect suffered minor injuries and is currently listed as being in stable condition.

KTLA reported that two suspects were involved and were later caught, according to the report.

But police would not confirm those reports. The investigation is ongoing.
